Orangutan Conservancy Scholarship Program

Reza

Orangutan Conservancy has developed a Scholarship program for Indonesians working with orangutans and in forest preservation programs. Currently the program is open to students associated with universities within Indonesia. In the future we hope to broaden the program to allow for international study. Our current scholarship recipient is Reza Yogapermana, a bright, young man who works on orangutan conservation in East Kalimantan, Borneo. Reza’s desire was to attend university in order to learn and do even more in conservation. He submitted a well written and thought out four-year university plan in Environmental Sciences at Trisakti University in Jakarta. Reza has already completed his first year and is now well into his second. The department was very excited to have Reza as he is their first student who actually has forest experience! Reza’s mother was also involved in orangutan conservation in Balikpapan with the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation.

November 2011 Update:  Reza is doing great in school.  His GPA is an impressive 3.5.
